The election on bringing a casino to Linn County requires special attention.

The money to be generated is deceptively attractive.

Issues of need in the community can be addressed with more creative solutions. A casino can prey on the most vulnerable.

Besides discerning our own vote, we can help make others aware of this needless temptation to those subject to gambling addiction.

These folk can be nurtured into health of mind and body through true compassion and care. But we have to care.

A vote can be cast now from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 935 Second St SW, Cedar Rapids. Curbside voting is available for the handicapped.
