MADISON, Wis. — Frustration is understood. It’s one been maddening Big Ten men’s basketball loss after another for Iowa, it seems.
Three by three points, two by four points, one in overtime, now one in double-overtime.
The what-might-have-beens have become as repetitive as a pendulum.
But can you be angry at the Hawkeyes? They’re flawed, sure. Yet, they brought heart to Minnesota in a 62-59 loss Sunday, and they brought it again three days later here in this 74-70 2-OT heartbreaker to Wisconsin.
These are tough places to win and these teams aren’t slouches. Wisconsin is 178-17 at home over the last 12 seasons.
“Next close game, we’ll pull it out,” Iowa’s Aaron White said after the game.
I’ll file a second-day column here sometime Thursday. Right now, the trick is to fight the dicey, reportedly icy weather, and drive back to Cedar Rapids.
This team could EASILY be 7-3 or even 8-2 in conference right now. So frustrating. Last night was probably the cherry on top. How that shot by Oglesby didn’t go in at the end of regulation is beyond me. Kind of symbolizes the last month.
