We cannot deny climate change

Thanks to Todd Dorman for his Jan. 24 column, “Branstad lacking answers on climate.”

I’m saddened, though not surprised, that Gov. Terry Branstad seemed to stammer when asked about the devastating effects climate change has had on our state.

Dorman is right. The governor and state leaders need to in Dorman’s words, ”Dig in, learn more and consider responsible actions.”

We can no longer afford to deny and delay. There are important, bipartisan policy proposals such as The Iowa Renewable Energy Jobs 2020, an initiative for renewable energy, energy efficiency, and transportation solutions that would save Iowans $1 billion in energy costs and create 20,000 jobs by 2020, that can make a meaningful impact now.

Governor, it’s time for you to lead. Endorse and this now!
