The second Gazette Book Club selection is Jane Austen’s “Pride and Prejudice.”

Chosen in conjunction with this year’s Metro Library Network’s 2013 Linn Area Reads selection, several events are planned throughout March.

The book was chosen, in part, because 2013 marks the 200th anniversary of the publication of “Pride and Prejudice.”

All events are free and open to the public.

  • Weekly Book Discussions: 6:30 p.m. March 7, 14 and 21, Barnes & Noble Booksellers, 333 Collins Rd. NE, Cedar Rapids.
  • “Pride and Prejudice” on the big screen, 7:30 p.m. March 28, Theatre Cedar Rapids, 102 Third St. SE, Cedar Rapids.
  • Afternoon Tea and Scones with Jane — A Portrait of Jane Austen by Melissa Sodeman, 2 p.m. March 9, Granger House, 970 10th St., Marion. Registration is required for this event at http://bit.ly/linnareareads.

The Gazette Book Club will host a discussion before the March 28 viewing. Watch for more information in this section and sign up for our newsletter at TheGazette.com/bookclub.
