What’s missing in abortion debate

The Gazette’s Jan. 27 editorial cartoon only portrays part of the truth.

Although Planned Parenthood is the largest abortion provider in the United States, about 1,800 abortions are performed daily in our country, bringing the yearly total to 657,000.

Very few news articles report that there have been 55.8 million abortions since 1973. This is equivalent to the combined population of all of California and New York!

I guess we are now honestly beyond the discussion as to when life begins. Please read www.salon.com/2013/01/23/so_what_if_abortion_ends_life/.

Women are often solely responsible for birth control, pregnancy or abortion, birth, and raising children, truly making this a debate over procreation discrimination and “equal rights,” where men need to be part of the solution and not just anonymous sperm donors.

Sadly, 40 years of tragedy is legal, somewhat safe and hardly rare.
