Coe men win, No. 14 Cornell women roll

KIRKWOOD 73, ELLSWORTH 57

Former Marion prep Kasey Semler scored 19 points and Kevin Hunter added 17 as Kirkwood downed Ellsworth, 73-57, in an Iowa Community College Athletic Conference menís basketball game Saturday at Johnson Hall.

Gage Heffernan added 11 points and 13 rebounds for the Eagles (12-10, 4-3).

COE 68, DUBUQUE 60

Seth Light scored 16 points and Andrew Wirth 14 as the Kohawks (13-8, 6-4) won an Iowa Conference game in Dubuque.

Coe outscored Dubuque, 33-25, in the final 20 minutes.

LUTHER 93, SIMPSON 86 (OT)

The Norse outscored the Storm, 21-14, in the extra period to improve to 15-6 overall, 8-2 in the Iowa Conference.

Former West Central prep Tyler Wedemeier led Luther with 28 points, connecting on 9 of 14 field goals and 10 of 11 free throws. Michael Crocker added 19 and Zach Matos 10.

Charles Swain led Simpson (6-15, 2-8) with 28 points, including a 3-pointer with one second left in regulation to tie the game.

CARROLL 67, CORNELL 57

Jake Bast and Alec Molter combined for 33 points to lead Carroll (14-5, 10-4) at home.

Reggie Greenwood led Cornell (7-12, 6-8) with 14 points and Nick Bobb added 12.

Women's basketball:

CORNELL, 80, CARROLL 65

Rikki Mulloy poured in 31 points Saturday and Camille Marie added 27 points and 10 rebounds as No. 14 Cornell rolled to an 80-65 Midwest Conference womenís basketball win over Carroll in Waukesha, Wis.

Up by just four at halftime, the Rams outscored Carroll, 41-30, in the second half to improve to 18-1 overall, 13-1 in the MWC.

Taylor Dicus chipped in with 12 points and seven rebounds for Cornell.

Emily DeNoyer led Carroll (9-8, 8-6) with 18 points.

KIRKWOOD 78, ELLSWORTH 42\

Kiana Johnson recorded a double-double as the host Eagles won their 13th straight.

Jacobs scored 20 points and pulled down 10 rebounds, helping Kirkwood improve to 21-3 overall, 10-0 in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference. Bianca Dufelmeier added 11 points and eight assists.

Celine Jolicoeur led Ellsworth (9-14, 2-7) with 19 points.

SIMPSON 85, LUTHER 76

Kate Nielsen scored 29 points and Brooke Panzer and Nicole Crisp added 14 apiece as Simpson improved to 20-1, 10-0 in the Iowa Conference with a win at home.

Logan Hjerleid led the Norse (12-9, 4-6) with 19 points and Megan Koepnick added 18. Taylor Johnson scored 12 points.

DUBUQUE 80, COE 63

Mollie Whiting hit 10 of 13 field goals and 10 of 11 free throws for 31 points as Dubuque (15-6, 5-5) won at home.

Mary Halvorson scored 19 for Coe (11-10, 4-6) and Megan Hayes chipped in with 11 off the bench.
