IOWA CITY The University of Iowa Organ Transplant center is one of the collaborators in the new Iowa Liver Center, announced Friday.

The new organization will care for patients with liver disease, offering a range of coordinated diagnostic, treatment and support services. The Iowa Liver Center is a joint collaboration of three Iowa health care organizations: the UI Organ Transplant Center, based in Iowa City; the Iowa Digestive Disease Center, based in Clive; and Mercy Medical Center-Des Moines, including its affiliated clinics and subsidiaries.

The new center aims to use the shared expertise and resources of the participating organizations to ensure the most advanced treatments are available, and use effective care coordination among the doctors, nurses and staff to assure outstanding quality for patients. The Iowa Liver Center is an initiative of the University of Iowa Health Alliance.
