All these nonsense reasons concerning the proposed casino in Cedar Rapids are ridiculous.
A lot of the people who voted no the last time for a casino are on the buses going to other casinos. People will continue to go to the taverns they have been going to, if that is where they are happy, and they also will go to the casinos that offer the most and the best payouts. It is like the grocery stores, you go where the best deals are.
I have fought cancer for several years and it is good therapy to sit down and play the penny machines for three to four hours and mingle with people, as I donít think of my pain and suffering.
I lived in Phoenix for 27 years and went to the casinos there and in Las Vegas. That is where a lot of business people go to conventions and afterward there is a lot to do. Our cityís new convention center will profit from a casino.
I donít drink or smoke or do drugs, which is very costly.
I say to each his own. The casinos also do a lot of donations. Is this not a free country?
We need the tax dollars and maybe the property owners will get a break? Look at Dubuque and how they have prospered and grown.
