After reading the Jan. 26 article “Supervisors given support to increase salaries,” I wondered why these people think that the residents of Linn County want to add to their tax burden with a large pay raise for the supervisors.

We are one of the families that exist on an income well below the median income. We are concerned with not only finding the money to pay these increases, but how to meet our everyday obligations as everything in this nation keeps increasing on a daily basis.

We feel that any pay raise, not just for the supervisors, but for every elected official whether local, county, state or federal, should be voted on by the citizens, who provide the money in the first place.

Every resident of Linn County should ask for more evidence about what the supervisors do to deserve the large increase in their salary. Don’t be afraid to ask, it’s your money.
