B.V. holds off Kohawks

Coe keeps it close in Iowa Conference game at Eby

Buena Vista held a three-point margin over Coe in each half Wednesday night at Eby Fieldhouse in Cedar Rapids, defeating the Kohawks, 70-64, in Iowa Conference men’s basketball.

Coe kept it close and trailed by just a point, 59-58, on a Max Schmarzo jumper with 2:18 to play, but B.V. (13-5, 5-2) pulled ahead by as many as eight down the stretch.

Seth Light scored 15 points for Coe (10-8, 3-4).

CORNELL 90, KNOX 72 — Cornell kept Knox (1-15, 1-10) mired in the basement of the Midwest Conference with a victory in Mount Vernon.

Reggie Greenwood hit 5 of 7 3-point shots and scored 21 points for Cornell (7-10, 6-6). Joey Guth added 19 points, Alec Winzenried 13 and Nick Bobb 12. The Rams made 11 of 19 3-pointers and shot 60.3 percent from the field.

LUTHER 75, WARTBURG 61 — Tyler Wedemeier scored 18 points and Zach Matos 15 as Luther improved to 6-1 in Iowa Conference play with the victory in Waverly.

Luther (13-5) led by three at halftime, then pulled away on 51.7-percent shooting in the second half.

MOUNT MERCY 85, VITERBO 74 (OT) — Ninth-ranked Mount Mercy needed an extra period to pick up its 20th victory of the season in Cedar Rapids.
