I caught up briefly with Iowa Athletics Director Gary Barta before Iowa’s men’s basketball game at Ohio State tonight.

He confirmed an earlier report than Iowa and Nebraska will request to move their season-ending game to Black Friday this fall and he wants to do so in 2014, when Nebraska is scheduled to return to Iowa City. Although the Big Ten is slated for a massive divisional overhaul in 2014, Barta seemed confident the teams would be playing that year. If the schools are placed in opposite divisions, they could still make the request for that year alone.

Barta also declined to confirm tweets from D.J. Hernandez that he will become a football graduate assistant. Any news about football coaching additions or departures will come from head coach Kirk Ferentz, Barta added. Ferentz is expected to talk about recruiting and other football topics on national signing day Feb. 6.
