The Ceramics Center is pleased to announce their first exhibition of the new year, Mark McWhorter: Pottery and Paintings. Artist Reception will be held at the Gallery on Saturday, January 19, 4-6 pm.

Mark's new work shows how an artist's hand can be woven between mediums in a skilled and seamless manner. One body of work influences the other, adding strength to the art.

Mark has taught at Indian Hills Community College since 1980. His works in clay consist of both traditional and non-traditional utilitarian vessels. Ideas for his two dimensional works are usually taken from the rural Iowa landscape or from travels in North and South Carolina and the Northern Rocky Mountains. These works may be acrylics, colored pencil, or most usually watercolor.

Mark McWhorter's works can be seen at the Gallery in The Ceramics Center, 329 10th Ave SE Suite 117, Cedar Rapids, IA 52401
