A conversation with educators, employers and local resources to identify the gaps, challenges and needs and building awareness of existing programs for workforce development. Presented by Workplace Learning Connection in partnership with ICAD Group, CR Metro Economic Alliance, IowaWorks, Employers Council of Iowa.
Who is this for?: Educators: administrators, principals, school counselors, teachers, superintendents, anyone who interacts with students and Employers: owners, managers, HR, team leaders, trainers, temp agencies
1:00: Introductions, overview and welcome with Maggie Mowery, Consensus Change Consulting, Johnson County Supervisor Terrence Neuzil and Laurie Worden from Workplace Learning Connection
1:10: Employers describe their challenges in Manufacturing, IT/Technology, Entry Level/Hospitality, and Healthcare
1:40: Solon Superintendent and United Way of Johnson County discuss the perspective of education and community needs
2:00: Presentations from local resource providers including Workplace Learning Connection, Career Academies/Regional Centers, College Career Services, and Apprenticeships
3:00: Small group breakouts, divided by industry topic. Each group will have an employer, educator and resource provider ready to facilitate discussion and answer questions.
4:00: Reconvene for large group wrap up conversation.
4:30: Showcase of student presentations- opportunity for students, employers and educators to interact in atrium
