A wrong turn took a Cedar Rapids man down the path of having his car stolen Thursday night.

Police said a 35-year-old man was giving a friend a ride home around 10:15 p.m. when he mistakenly turned into a parking lot at the Westdale Court apartment complex, near 2155 Westdale Dr. SW. Two men approached the car and forced the driver and his friend out of the car at gunpoint. The driver was pushed and struck with the gun.

The two suspects ultimately got into the victim’s car and drove away. The victim also had his cell phone and wallet stolen. No serious injuries were reported.

One of the suspects was described as a black man, around 6 feet tall, wearing a baseball cap and a black and gray jacket.

The car, a 2007 Dodge Charger, has a license plate of 067YOO. Anyone with information about the location of the car or about the robbery is asked to call police at (319) 286-5491.
