Cedar Rapids RoughRiders first-year defenseman Scott Moldenhauer has committed to play college hockey at Western Michigan, he said via Twitter late Tuesday night.

Moldenhauer, 18, is a 6-foot-3, 211-pounder from Oak Ridge, N.C. He has two goals and six assists in 31 games for the Riders, who host a pair of games this weekend.

Western Michigan’s head coach is Andy Murray, who has coached in the NHL for the St. Louis Blues.
