MASON CITY, Iowa (AP) — Some 100 young girls escaped injury when a deer crashed through the glass door of a school where they were participating in a cheerleading clinic.

The Mason City Globe Gazette reports that the girls — from kindergarten through 8th grade — arrived at the front of Mason City High School on Saturday morning when six deer ran in front of the school.

One deer crashed through the school’s glass library door before quickly exiting through the broken glass.

No people were injured, but school officials say the deer left a trail of blood from the school. School officials planned to try to track the injured deer.
