Cedar Rapids police are investigating after a 50-year-old man was found dead in his apartment early Thursday morning.

Officers responded just before 3 a.m. to an apartment building at 2261 C St. SW when a neighbor at the Hawthorne Hills complex called 911. Sgt. Cristy Hamblin there were no obvious signs of foul play, but the death was mysterious. Investigators are hoping an autopsy will provide more clues about what led to the man’s death.

The man’s name was not released by police.

Hamblin said the man was with friends in his apartment earlier in the evening, but apparently was alone when he died.
