Tens of thousands of Iowans have had their electric power restored following a winter storm that dropped more than a foot of snow in the Des Moines area.

But MidAmerican Energy reports that nearly 9,200 customers — most of them in Des Moines — were still without power Friday morning.

At the height of the storm that swept into Iowa early Thursday, more than 34, 000 customers were without electricity, including more than 32,000 in the Des Moines area.
