CEDAR RAPIDS – A 19-year-old was charged Thursday for breaking into a Marion residence Wednesday and robbing a man while wielding a handgun and knife, according to criminal complaint.

Alex L. Sierra, of 2925 #14 Johnson Ave. SW, in Cedar Rapids, is charged with first-degree robbery and first-degree burglary. He is accused of breaking into the home of Andre Davis, 4861-1 Tama St., in Marion, and announced “this is a robbery,” according to a criminal complaint. Witnesses described how Sierra entered the Davis’ apartment with a handgun and knife. A fight started between Sierra and Davis and Davis was cut with the knife.

There was no information in the complaint on how serious Davis was injured.

According to the complaint, officers later questioned Sierra, who admitted to the robbery but claimed he had an accomplice.
