Cedar Rapids police release surveillance images of jewelry theft suspects

Stolen jewelry was valued at close to $4,000

Authorities are searching for two men involved with the theft of expensive jewelry in Cedar Rapids.

According to police, two men entered Kohlís, 361 Collins Rd NE, around 9:42 p.m. on Nov. 29, and one of them got away with about $4,000 worth of jewelry. Sgt. Cristy Hamblin said a clerk at the jewelry counter was showing one of the men items from an enclosed case when he took jewelry and ran out of the store.

Police said the two men came into the store together, but one of the men left the store just before the theft occurred. The man who took the jewelry was wearing a gray sweat shirt with stripes over the shoulders and arms.

Officials have not yet determined if the subjects left on foot or by vehicle. The incident remains under investigation.
