Police are investigating a bizarre early-morning stabbing in Cedar Rapids.

Officers responded around 4:45 a.m. Tuesday to 1221 15th St. SE, where they found a 47-year-old man who told them he had been stabbed. His injuries were to the upper torso, but were not considered life-threatening, police said. He was transported to Mercy Medical Center for treatment.

According to police, the man said the incident had happened two or three hours earlier at a different address. Sgt. Cristy Hamblin investigators were still working to verify information about the case. She said the man's name would not be released until the cause of the stabbing was determined.
