Xavier juniors Mary Esker, Kelsi Fuller and Grace Winker were able to push past the stress of preparing for semester finals and organize an Advent Food Drive for the Xavier High School community. The drive, which lasted one week, yielded nearly 1,700 non-perishable items including the food bank’s most needed items such as tuna, soup, canned pasta, peanut butter and jelly, spaghetti sauce, rice, baking mixes, and toilet paper. The items will be distributed to the Metro Catholic Outreach Food Bank in Cedar Rapids, whose needs drastically increase around the holidays.
