Cedar Rapids firefighters recognized for MDA support

Cedar Rapids firefighters were recognized by the Muscular Dystrophy Association of Eastern Iowa for their fund raising efforts this year that resulted in a $26,236.51 donation to MDA. The Cedar Rapids Fire Department and International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) Local #11 have participated in the Fill the Boot campaign for 28 years. Cedar Rapids firefighters raised more money for MDA than any other fire department in the state of Iowa.

The award was presented by MDA Staff Executive Director Liz Simpson and MDA Fundraising Coordinators Kristin Hanneman and Annika Cousins at the Central Fire Station, 1010 1st Street NW, on Tuesday, December 11th. Accepting the award for the Cedar Rapids Fire Department and IAFF Local #11 were Fire Chief Mark English, Local #11 Executive Board President Justin Jensen, MDA Coordinator for IAFF Local #11 Firefighter Paul Bagby, and past Executive Board President and MDA Coordinator Firefighter Dave Corell.
