Teach your children abstinence

On Nov. 27, The Gazette published on article on birth control (“Plan B contraceptive prescriptions urged for teens”).

The American Academy of Pediatrics states that doctors should give underage teens prescriptions for emergency contraception before they start having sex. It did not state three important facts: What is Plan B, Plan A, and what are the emergencies that are so dire at this age?

If contraceptives prevent certain diseases, then I have no problem with that, but what happened to teaching your children abstinence? It’s the parents of children who should teach them to abstain from sex until marriage, teach them self confidence and self worth. Give them your love and your strength.

Most of all, be there for them.
