CEDAR RAPIDS — Two companies with Eastern Iowa operations have been ranked in the top 10 of Inc. magazine's  inaugural 100 "Hire Power Awards" for creating the most jobs in the last three years.

RuffaloCODY of Cedar Rapids, a 21-year-old privately-owned company that manages enrollment and fundraising services, is ranked No. 3 with 1,700 jobs created in the period and No. 1 in business products and services.

"We're really flattered by it all," said Al Ruffalo, founder and chief executive officer of RuffaloCODY. "It's another one of those pats on the back to all the employees for doing what they have done. That helps create a good environment to help us continue to grow."

GoDaddy.com, a Scottsdale, Ariz.-based company with operations in Hiawatha, is ranked No. 5 with 1,403 jobs created within the last three years. Go Daddy, founded by former Cedar Rapids entrepreneur Bob Parsons, offers domain name registration and website hosting services.

RuffaloCODY has plans to continue growing in 2013.

"Our budget is finalized and we're going to be adding 110 or 120 full-time positions next year, with about half of them in Cedar Rapids," Ruffalo said. "Our current workforce in Cedar Rapids is about 250, so we're going to be growing by about 20 percent next year."

Ruffalo said the new positions will include project managers, writers and computer programmers.

"We plan to continue adding full-time employees at that annual pace for the next five years," Ruffalo said.

Inc. magazine said its Hire Power Awards celebrates private companies on the forefront of American job creation.

"The top 100 companies on the list have created 73,032 American jobs in the three-year period from 2008 to 2011 – an amazing feat, given that much of that job growth came during the heart of the recession," said Eric Schurenberg, Inc. editor-in-chief. "And it isn’t just the big guys that are adding jobs. Companies with less than $50 million in annual revenue make up nearly one-third of the Hire Power list."

Other companies in the top 10 Inc. Hire Power Awards include Universal Services of America, Santa Ana, Calif., 17,330 jobs; Air Serv of Atlanta, Ga., 6,269 jobs; Pacific Dental Services of Irvine, Calif., 1,451 jobs; Heartland Dental Care of Effingham, Ill., 1,150 jobs; Chobani of Norwich, N,Y., 1,083 jobs; Talk2Rep of Tamarac, Fla., 1,043 jobs; Smashburger of Denver, Colo., 995 jobs, and SolarCity of San Mateo, Calif., 989 jobs.
