I wasn’t at Tuesday night’s South Dakota-Iowa basketball game, nor did I watch it on television, since it wasn’t televised. (Remember when all Iowa games were televised? Ah, simpler times.)
However, through Twitter and several good friends of mine in the Iowa media who tweeted as they covered the game, I got the feeling Iowa Coach Fran McCaffery was irritated. He was at one particular juncture, at least.
By the way, the Hawkeyes won, 87-63.
Thanks for the tweets, gents. It does help when there’s no TV.
While at an officiating seminar at the new underground basketball facility, I stepped out of the gym to take a call. Mad Fran stared at me with either contempt or intimidation in mind as he walked down the hallway past me. You have seen the look,…furrowed brow, pursed lips, the “how dare you!” eyes.
I think he wakes up angry, and it is downhill from there.
Saw a little of the game on the net, Iowa looked like they wanted to be somewhere else. Very little excitement on their faces. Didn’t see much hustle, lots of poor positioning from the post players. Can’;t understand letting guys go baseline all the time on Iowa and getting the foul or basket. Lots of work left to do. The only guy looking happy was Stokes, sweet turnaround J he made.
Love Fuming Fran! Get those young men ready for the difficult games that await them this month!
Would be great if another Iowa head coach (who will go unamed) had the same ferocity and passion!
