Iowa Humane Alliance will provide area pet owners with discounted vaccinations and microchipping for cats and dogs at the IHA Regional Spay/Neuter Clinic in S.W. Cedar Rapids on December 5th , 10th and 17th .
The clinic is located at 6540 6th Street SW, Cedar Rapids, IA, 52404 (across the street from the Tractor Supply Store), and veterinarians will be on duty those days at the clinic from 1:00 PM until 7:00 PM. These services are by appointment only, and an appointment can be made by calling IHA at 319-363-1225.
Pet vaccinations will cost just $10 each for 5-Way Distemper for dogs, 4-Way Upper Respiratory for Cats and Rabies for cats and dogs (3 year rabies also available with current proof of rabies vaccination). Microchipping with free lifetime registration for pets is just $20. These discounted services are being offered as a community service, and to raise awareness for much anticipated grand opening of IHA’s Regional Spay/Neuter Clinic facility on January 14th, 2013. Pet owners can also take this opportunity to make an appointment for low-cost spay/neuter services which the clinic will provide following its January opening.
Discussing the need for pet vaccinations, IHA Program Director Mary Blount said “It is very important that pet owners maintain current vaccinations for their animal’s health and well-being. Animals can become exposed to sick animals through contact between yard fencing, at parks or other places of congregation. Ensuring your pet’s health is protected will eliminate or reduce potential medical expenses and your family’s worry over an ill pet. It is a key element of responsible pet ownership and your pet will thank you for it!”
When asked about the discounted services being offered at the clinic in December, IHA Development Director Kathleen Schoon explained that “Offering discount deals on pet vaccinations and microchipping is our way of reaching out to the community we’ll be serving. It lets people know we’re here for them, and it will also highlight the upcoming grand opening of our clinic – which will be Iowa’s very first region-wide, high-volume, high-quality, low-cost spay and neuter facility. As most people know, our cash-strapped public animal shelters and local rescue groups are often drastically overloaded with unwanted animals, and more cats and dogs are brought in every single day. When we’re fully operational, the IHA clinic will spay and neuter over 8,000 animals every year. And that means that literally tens of thousands of unwanted animals won’t be flooding into our area’s shelters and rescues. That’s why the clinic is so important to Eastern Iowa, and why we want to be sure people know about us and our mission.”
Iowa Humane Alliance is a local, nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to ending companion animal over-population and shelter overcrowding in Iowa by increasing public access to affordable, quality spay/neuter services.
