Crash near Lisbon shuts down Highway 30

A westbound semi clipped an oncoming cement truck and crashed into an oncoming car

UPDATE: A section of Highway 30 has reopened after being closed for several hours following a traffic accident near Lisbon High School.

Authorities responded to the two-vehicle crash around 12:36 p.m. near the intersection of Highway 30 and South Jefferson Street. According to the state patrol, a westbound semi crossed the center line, clipped an oncoming cement truck and crashed into an oncoming car.

The driver of the car, Jacob Callender, 19, of Lowden, was flown to Iowa City for his injuries. Dennis Heeren, 30, of Anamosa, was driving the cement truck. He was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital for his injuries.

The driver of the semi, Trevor Morillo, 37, of Brandon, was not hurt.

Authorities blocked Highway 30, between Highway 1 and County Road X-40 for more than four hours.
