The Cedar Rapids Community School District will recognize businesses and organizations that partner with schools at a special event, Wednesday, Nov. 28, from 4:30 – 6 p.m. The program will be held at the Educational Leadership and Support Center, 2500 Edgewood Road NW, and will spotlight the volunteerism of organizations in the schools. Honorees have been identified by school principals.
The event will include a reception with partnership displays and student entertainment, and a program featuring the introduction of the honorees. More than 35 businesses will receive a partnership recognition certificate. An additional 30 organizations will be introduced to receive a special service to education honor.
“Throughout our schools, collaborations with local businesses and organizations provide extra support to both students and staff and enrich the learning environment,” noted Marcia Hughes Community Relations Supervisor. “Business partners volunteer in the classroom, help to coordinate large activities, and physically pitch in to help with school projects. In return, students and staff give back to the partner with special fine arts performances, art projects, and invitations to school programs. These partnerships are a win-win for everyone.”
