DES MOINES — Today’s Statewide Bullying Prevention Summit in Des Moines is sold out, with nearly 1,200 people planning to attend the one-day symposium at Hy-Vee Hall.

Iowans who want to participate can follow the summit on Twitter using the #NoBullyIA hashtag, by commenting in the live coverage chat above, or by watching streaming coverage through the Iowa Department of Education.

Gov. Terry Branstad said Monday he hopes for a good conversation at the summit. If Iowa’s laws need to be changed, they can be, he said.

“This is a significant problem, and we need a serious effort to address it,” Branstad said. “We know it’s going to take the involvement of school leaders, parents and communities. We’re all in this together.”
