Cedar Rapids police have now identified the victim who died in a hit-and-run accident Sunday afternoon.

Police said Jennifer Hopkins, 30, was ejected from a sport-utility vehicle that collided with a car around 2:30 p.m. at the intersection of 16th Avenue and 11th Street SW in Cedar Rapids. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the SUV ran from the scene after the accident. Police have not named him and are still searching for him. Police have not said anything about the relationship between Hopkins and the person driving the SUV.

Police said the driver who left the scene apparently ran a stop sign, according to witnesses. Those witnesses also said Hopkins was ejected from her front passenger seat in the vehicle.

According to police, Mark McDowell and his four children were in the car involved in the collision. The four juveniles suffered minor injuries and were later treated and released.
