On Thursday, Nov. 29, beginning at 11:30 a.m., Mercy Medical Center, 701 10th Street S.E., will host approximately 16 health science academy students from Kirkwood Marion Learning Center. These high school students are taking a college-level class through Kirkwood Community College. As part of the fall semester class, students are exploring a variety of health careers.

Health Academy Day provides the students with the unique opportunity to observe Mercy healthcare professionals in their work settings. Participating departments include Emergency & Trauma Center and Outpatient Surgery Center.

A “Lunch and Learn” session will also be included over the noon hour. Students will have the opportunity to discuss careers in pharmacy with Mercy professionals.

For more information about Mercy’s Health Academy Day, contact Karen Vander Sanden at Mercy Medical Center at (319) 398-6083 or (319) 558-8424.
