Project manager Frew Development Group will ask the City Council on Tuesday to extend that final completion date on the city’s convention complex project for six weeks until April 27.

The final completion date had been March 15, 2013, according to a company memorandum to the City Council.

The convention complex project consists of the construction of a new convention center and renovation of the arena next to it. The arena is attached to a hotel, which also is closed for renovation. A new parking ramp to serve the complex and hotel is going up across the street.

John Frew, president/CEO of the Frew Development Group, has said in the past that he anticipated the opening of what will be known as the DoubleTree by Hilton at the U.S. Cellular Center around June 1.
