The City of Marion will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony for the latest extension of South 31st Street, from Grand Avenue to Highway 100. The ceremony will take place Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012 at 2:30 p.m., just south of the intersection of Grand Avenue and South 31st Street. The public is invited to attend. The road will officially open to traffic following the ceremony.

Connecting 31st Street to Highway 100 has been contemplated since the opening of the 100 extension in 1992. The first segment extending South 31st Street from 1st Avenue to Grand Avenue was installed in the fall of 2010. A private developer began work on the latest segment earlier this fall. The opening of this connection provides another access point to a growing part of Marion.
