Motorcyclist dies in Cedar Rapids crash

CEDAR RAPIDS — One man was killed after a car and a motorcycle collided on Thursday afternoon in Cedar Rapids.

The Cedar Rapids Police Department said the crash happened in the 7800 block of Edgewood Road SW about 2:45 p.m.

Investigators said a motorcycle traveling south collided with a car traveling north.

The driver of the motorcycle was taken by air ambulance to St. Luke’s Hospital, where he later died.

Officers from the Cedar Rapids Fire Department, The Eastern Iowa Airport, Linn County Sheriff’s Office and rescue units from Cedar Rapids and Fairfax all responded.
