C.R. downtown still needs some work

I had the pleasure of touring the Paramount Theatre a few weeks ago. What a magnificent building for our community. A venue to impress all who perform and all attending those performances.

What will not impress are the street lamps you walk under on your way to the Paramount. About two years ago I started noticing how dirty and disgusting they look. I realize things take time after the destruction of the flood. But four years later, they are filled with dead bugs and covered in cobwebs.

Does this say something about the class of businesses downtown will attract? Cedar Rapids is desperately trying to revitalize the downtown area but we don’t care enough to do something as simple as cleaning the lamp lights.
