Expense Reduction Analysts has rejected a state loan to expand in Cedar Rapids because it wouldn’t meet its contract requirements with the Iowa Economic Development Authority.

The company, known as ERA-USA, had planned to relocate a franchisee support center from Carlsbad, Calif., to Cedar Rapids. The contract was based on creation of 16 jobs.

The Iowa Economic Development Authority Board Friday approved termination of the state’s contract with ERA-USA. None of the funds approved for the company had been withdrawn, so there was no demand for a return of incentives.

ERA-USA did not respond immediately to an email inquiry about the change. The California-based company helps its clients improve profitability through cost, purchase and supplier management.
