I was pleased to see The Gazette publish two lengthy opinion pieces on climate change in Sunday’s edition.
I would love Amy Ridenour’s perspective, that climate change is an illusion, to be the correct view — given that if the view that climate change is real (Joseph Nevins) we must make fundamental changes in most everything about our lives and society. Unfortunately, virtually none of the assertions Ridenour makes about the absence of global warming is true.
The planet is warming, the Arctic is thawing, the weather is being affected, deserts are growing, ecosystems are near tipping points, the oceans are warming, rising and becoming more acidic, and we have no time to waste if we wish to leave a livable planet for our grandchildren.
