Maryland football and Big Ten football are two ships that have seldom passed in the night. But when they have, it hasn’t gone well for the Terrapins.
Big Ten member-to-be Maryland is 4-44-1 against current Big Ten teams. The records:
vs. Michigan 0-3
vs. Michigan State 1-4
vs. Minnesota 1-0
vs. Penn State 1-35-1
vs. Purdue 1-0
In fairness, Penn State didn’t start playing Big Ten football until 1993, and that was the last year the Terrapins played the Nittany Lions. Penn State won beat the Terps that year, by the way. The score was 70-7.
Maryland has played just one game in the last 20 seasons against a Big Ten team. That was 2006, when the Terrapins beat Purdue 24-7 in the Champs Sports Bowl.
So, the Terps have a 1-game winning streak against the Big Ten. Momentum is on their side!
