I thank Heritage Christian School in North Liberty, principal Michael Annis, staff, and especially Elizabeth Walters for inviting all veterans to their Nov. 9 program. It meant a lot to all the veterans there.

Annis told the student body and staff that freedom was not free and a lot of men and women paid the price for them, some by giving their lives, so they could attend a school like Heritage Christian School. It really sent a message.

I truly believe all 190 students understand how lucky they are.
