Sociologists at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill mapped more than 300,000 signatures on various state secession petitions posted as of this morning at whitehouse.gov. Click the map above or the first link, and you’ll go to the original map, which shows signatures down to the county level. It shows, for instance, that 96 people from Linn County have signed petitions.
But Iowa doesn’t appear to be a den of secessionists. Looks like, at this point, Illinois, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa will be sticking with the union.
The researchers also found that, based on the names given, 63 percent of those who signed are men.
