Consumers who bought certain brands of LCD flat screen TVs, monitors and laptops are nearing a deadline to participate in a $1 billion-plus 24-state class action settlement.

The settlement was reached between state attorney general and 10 manufacturers of LCDs (liquid crystal displays) accused of price-fixing. The manufacturers include Sharp, Hitachi, Samsung, Epson Imaging Devices, Toshiba, LG, HannStar, Chunghwa and Chi Mei Optoelectronics.

The deadline for consumers to file a claim is Dec. 6, according to Joseph Alioto, an attorney for consumers in the class action. Consumers could collect $25, $100 and $200 depending on the number of televisions, monitors and laptop computers purchased.
