Police collected a plastic baggie of shell casings after several gunshots were fired Tuesday afternoon in a southeast Cedar Rapids alley.

No injuries or damage was reported from the shooting, which was reported around 2:50 p.m. in the 1500 block alley between Bever Avenue and Washington Avenue SE.

A woman who lives in the area said she heard about six or seven shots in succession. She said she ran outside out of concern for her niece, who had just left the house. The woman said her son saw a couple people running down the alley after he heard the shots.

“It’s very concerning, because I have children, and I run a daycare out of my house,” said the woman, who declined to be identified. “But I’m not going to give up my house.”

No other information was immediately available.
