Two for StubHub.

I have a friend who is one of the Hawk-E-est of Hawkeyes and, yes, he’s frustrated and, yes, he put his Nebraska tickets on StubHub.

I mentioned here last week that the number of tickets on the brokerage/open market/whatever you want to call it website was at 1,663 with prices from $70 to $175. Today, there are 1,870 with prices ranging from $71 to $120.

It doesn’t seem to be a gold rush.

My Hawk-E-est friend has been tracking it. He said 25 tickets moved on Sunday with prices from $75-140. Most of the movement came in the north end zone, where there is no extra donation required to purchase season tickets.

I’m not going to beat you over the head with this. I was totally impressed by Iowa fans with last week’s sellout, which was the sixth sellout this season, the 24th straight and the 61st out of the last 63 games. You are invested. You proved it last weekend.

Nebraska fans pride themselves on taking over stadiums. The last time the Huskers visited Kinnick was 1999, Kirk Ferentz’s first game as Iowa’s coach. The Huskers were ranked No. 5 and rolled 42-7.

Iowa sold out that game with a crowd of 70,397. There was mention of a “sea of red-clad Nebraska fans” in the Gazette game story, with $33 face value (!!!!!) tickets going for $75 (!!!!) from scalpers. To put some math to it, Iowa drew 63,478 for its next game at Kinnick, a night kickoff against Northern Illinois. So, a solid 7,000 Nebraska fans, completely unscientifically of course.

Iowa won that game, 24-0. Linebacker LeVar Woods returned a blocked punt 87 yards for a TD. He’s in his first season as Iowa’s linebackers coach.

– Junior Conor Boffeli was the fifth player to give left guard a shot for the Hawkeyes this season. It went Matt Tobin, Andrew Donnal, Jordan Walsh, Nolan MacMillan and Boffeli. Tobin switched out to left tackle when Brandon Scherff was injured. Donnal suffered a torn ACL vs. Penn State. Walsh and MacMillan gave it a shot. And now Boffeli, who’s been and still is listed as the No. 2 center.

– Iowa has won three straight games over the Wolverines. Kirk Ferentz has a 5-4 career record against Michigan.

– Saturday’s game is an 11 a.m. kickoff and will be televised on ESPN. Next week, Nebraska comes to Kinnick next Friday for an 11 a.m. kick on ABC.

– The Wolverines are No. 23 in this week’s Associated Press poll. They will be the first ranked opponent for the Hawkeyes this season.

– Iowa needs two victories to qualify for a bowl for the 12th straight season.

– According to Iowa’s notes, 15 Hawkeyes have made their first starts this season, which ranks 17th in the country.
