Two employees were assaulted during an armed robbery at fast-food restaurant in northeast Cedar Rapids early Monday morning, police said.

Officers were dispatched at 12:30 a.m. to Taco Bell, 2621 Blairs Ferry Rd. NE, for a report of a robbery in progress. Police  said three men were involved in the hold-up, including one who displayed a handgun. No injuries were reported.

According to a police report, a 20-year-old male employee was outside when three men approached him and forced him re-enter the restaurant, where a 46-year-old female employee was working. The suspects demanded money, and one of the suspects started to hit the female employee, police said. Another suspect reportedly hit the male employee and forced him into a back room.

The suspects took an undisclosed amount of cash from the business and the female employee’s purse, police said.

All three suspects were black males wearing dark clothing, police said. The man who displayed the handgun was described as thin, standing around 6-foot-1, and was wearing a mask that covered his face. The second suspect was a heavyset black male, around 6-foot-1, who was wearing a ski mask. The third suspect was described as thin and around 5-foot-9.

No arrests have been made. An investigation was continuing.
