When does all of the apologizing and support for poor play, inferior recruits, horrible decision-making, a mediocre quarterback, “injured reserve” defense, and legal issues stop, and the acknowledgment that Iowa may just be a poorly coached team start?
Kirk Ferentz ranks in the nation’s top 10 highest-paid coaches, yet his “body of work” pales in comparison to five ahead of him: Mack Brown, Nick Saban, Bob Stoops, Urban Meyer and Les Miles all have won multiple BCS bowls and at least one national title. He also has a 10-year contract, wherein if the university were to fire him (without cause), he gets 75 percent of his annual guaranteed compensation over the rest of his contract. Who, grounded by logic, would agree to a contract like this? Unless emotional allegiances stop and realistic approaches start, prices will continue to rise, as quality continues to
fall.
