I had the opportunity to go on the Eastern Iowa Honor Flight (for World War II veterans) to Washington, D.C., on Oct. 16. Viewing the memorials, plus a bus tour of Washington, D.C., was fantastic. The highlight was the ceremony of the Changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

The reception we got when we returned to The Eastern Iowa Airport was the greatest — the flags, the band, the crowd all with hands extended and saying, “Welcome home, thanks for your service” was simply overwhelming. Thank you, Eastern Iowa.
