Tanager Place, a nonprofit health treatment facility for children and their families, will receive 20 percent of proceeds from the award-winning dance troupe THE SILHOUETTES performance of “Homecoming” at the Paramount Theatre on November 20.The performance starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased by calling the Paramount Theatre box office at 319.366.8203 or by going online to www.paramounttheatrecr.com
Directed by Cedar Rapids native Lynne Waggoner-Patton, THE SILHOUETTES were created in March 2009 and are most known for their inspiring performance on America’s Got Talent. The group of children, aged 4 – 19, competed against more than 100,000 acts to find themselves runners up. “Homecoming” promises to be an inspirational, motivational and powerful performance, sending a message of hope, unity and love.
The proceeds from the show will support Tanager Place’s mission of assisting children and their families struggling with emotional, mental or psychological challenges.
After the floods of 2008 devastated the theatre, Waggoner-Patton dedicated herself to bringing her show back to the theatre she grew up performing in, and has hand-selected Cedar Rapids’ Paramount Theatre as the venue for the first stop on their tour.
“We are thrilled that this amazing young group of performers has chosen to throw their weight behind the children and programs of Tanager Place,” says Joan Hackbarth, director of community relations. “Lynne truly has her heart in this community and we are grateful for the support and advocacy of THE SILHOUETTES and the Paramount Theatre.”
Tanager Place programs include the outpatient Mental Health Clinic, where children can receive diagnosis, medication management and counseling; the in-patient residential program for emotionally struggling children; community based programs for intervention services; and specialty programs such as Camp Tanager and the Expressive Arts and Music Therapy programs.
