CORALVILLE — The Sears store in the Coral Ridge Mall started the process of liquidating its merchandise last weekend. The store is still open for business and will remain open until late January.

Sears Holdings Spokesman Chris Brathwaite says that the company notified the store’s 94 associates last month that the store will officially close in late January. Brathwaite says employees that are eligible will receive severance and have the opportunity to apply for open positions at area Sears or Kmart stores.

The retailer announced this February that 11 Sears stores in 9 different states would close. At that time the Coral Ridge Mall location and another location in Council Bluffs were on the list. Each of the Sears stores is part of an existing General Growth property.
