A Vinton teenager was hurt in a single-vehicle accident Wednesday evening near Center Point, officials said.

Officials responded around 10:45 p.m. to a one-vehicle personal injury accident on Lewis Access Road just west of Bayou Lane. According to the Linn County sheriff’s office, the 17-year-old driver was westbound when he lost control, causing the car to enter the north ditch and strike a tree.

The accident scene was just east of a bridge that crosses the Cedar River.

According to officials, the driver was transported to St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids for what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries. The driver was wearing a seat belt, and there was no one else in the car.

The accident remains under investigation.
